Why We Built This Site
Iowa makes many justice records available, yet each office keeps a different part of the story. The Louisa County Sheriff creates incident and arrest reports and runs the county jail. The Louisa County Clerk of District Court maintains filed charges, docket entries, judgments, and sentences. The Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Investigation, operates the statewide criminal-history repository. Iowa DOC and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry publish other records under their own rules. We bring those official channels together and explain what each one can, and cannot, establish.
What You Will Find Here

- Official check steps: the identifiers, fees, releases, and limits for DCI name checks and fingerprint self-review
- Custodian details: verified contacts for the sheriff, jail, clerk, police departments, and statewide record systems
- Record remedies: Iowa expungement routes and the Louisa County court where a qualifying petition is filed
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, not part of Louisa County, the State of Iowa, any court, or any law-enforcement agency. Those limits matter:
- We cannot retrieve a person's official record or perform an official background check
- We cannot submit a public-record request, correction, or expungement filing for a reader
- We do not issue certified court documents, booking files, or criminal-history responses
- We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, sentence, or record remedy
- We cannot promise that a government office's fee, hours, or contact details have not changed
An official copy must come from the Louisa County Sheriff, the court clerk, Iowa DCI, or the other agency that created and maintains it.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes shown on some pages. Those providers control their products, prices, accounts, and results. We may receive a referral fee if a visitor follows a search tool to a paid service, which helps support free access to the reference material. We do not set a partner's charge and do not control the records it returns.
